Moving & Shaking, Day 6

Moving: One Leg Squats

  • 5 sets of 5 reps on each leg

This was a pretty low key workout that was still very challenging. I can’t do the full 1 leg squat, so I only did the half squat. Hopefully, one day my legs will be strong enough to do the full squat.

Shaking: Morning Zing

  • ½ bunch dandelion
  • ½ cucmber
  • ½ in ginger
  • 1 cup peaches
  • 1 cup pineapple
  • 2 capsules maca root
  • 1 capsule guarana

So I’ve started taking some herbal extracts. The first one is maca root, which you can read about here. Maca root is considered an adaptogen that is really good at regulating the and supporting endocrine health. It’s supposed to increase your energy, balance your hormones (although the extract doesn’t contain any hormones), and many women have found that it makes their butt bigger (there isn’t any real scientific proof that it grows your booty–it’s more anecdotal–but I guess if you’re curious, try it out).

The second is guarana, which is an energy booster, with 2.5 times more caffeine than coffee. It may also boost your metabolism, be good for your heart, and promote mental clarity. When I was in Brazil there was a soda called guarana, which I guess had some of the root extract in it, but there were also guarana stands where people went to get their little boost of energy.
