whb2: There is an old African saying that goes something like this, “There are three types of people in the world. When they hear the sound of a African drum they can’t help but move there body. The spirit of the listener, the drummer and the drum find harmony and join together in celebration. The Second type of person finds the sound of a African drum to be soothing, the sound takes them to a state of relaxation. This person spirit joins with the spirit of the drum and both find comfort in the union. The Third type of person closes there ears when they hear the sound of a African Drum. The rhythm disturbs them. Makes them feel uncomfortable and nervous. If they are in a room where they drum or drums are being played they have to leave the room. They are not in harmony with their own spirit and so there is no communication or harmony between the spirit of the drum or drummer.  Advertisements

The Last Last minute adventures in NYC

The last 2 weeks have involved a lot of BAD decisions. One of the most annoying was coming back from vacation early to the NYC heat wave and an apartment with no air-conditioning just to get stood up. And the worst is because I came back early, I started my last work metro card early, and it expired before my last day in NYC (today) and today I have mad errands to run. So my early return just ended up costing me a dumb amount of money I wouldn’t have had to spend (and unnecessary grief), if I had just stayed my ass on vacation. So, now I gotta spend about $20 in metro fare today, because they no longer 1-day unlimited pass, but on the bright side, it’s my LAST day of work, LAST day of AmeriCorps VISTA. Tomorrow I will be back home, no longer bullshitting with so many trifling New Yorkers, and back to my own car, pool, and air conditioning. Today is the last day. So with my abundance of metro …

F*** the UPS store!

after 5-6 years of shipping with ups, i am done. First, they’re gonna overcharge me for shipping two boxes, which I bought from the ups store itself. I have NEVER been charged that much for just two boxes, both with easy dimensions, even with 50 – 70 lb in weight.  Then this store is gonna refuse to ship my luggage as is. He said I had to pay a $50 packaging fee. Are you kidding me? You work in a damn BOX store, why do I have to pay you to put my luggage in a BOX? What is so damn difficult about putting it in a box that it is worth $50 in your labor? So I took my luggage back and paid for the boxes. But I shouldn’t have even done that. I was too pissed to think straight and got WAY overcharged for two goddamn boxes! On top of which, he didn’t even give me the itemized receipt with the weights and everything on it, so I can’t even verify if he was …
